treasury by kiwibird

Kiwibird has a new shop, and she just listed a treasury this morning which i LOVE. Check her out! Above is a piece from her other shop which I am quite fond of. You can see more of her prints, ACEO's, and original works here. Her works have a unique feel to them, I imagine fossils, flora and fauna, life without humans... all very earthy and natural. Her landscapes are also expansive and yet still. There is an art to making subtle yet engaging work and Kiwibird does just that.

still etsy breaking

its been about 2 weeks?....three? i've moved from vermont to texas and am still living out of boxes in my new loft. i think my life is going to be much more filled up in the 'real world' but i do plan on getting back to treasuries and etsy soon, perhaps not as often but back soon nonetheless. so if anyone is out there checking in, know that another week or so and i will be ready to get etsy up and running!

In the meantime, enjoy a few treasuries I've recently made, the top one is fresh off the press today! I'm loving the works I'm finding on etsy lately, go check some out, really well made, creative works by some talented people!

good treasury mojo

As far as I know, I've never helped anyone sell anything because of a treasury, until now! Lynn just let me know her 'Egg Gourds' sold because of the latest treasury I made. How cool is that!!!

Here you can see the egg gourds. I love these, it doesn't get much more earthy than this does it? I feel stabilized just looking at their shape and colors. Beautiful indeed.

Lynn's shop, midnightcoiler, is filled with such a variety of goodness...she has gourd art of course, baskets, birdhouse feeders, needle cases, charms, beads, stoneware pottery and jewelry.

Take at look at this beautiful coiled carved art gourd!

Lynn's shop description of this beautiful piece:

This award winning coiled art piece was inspired by the vessels of Mediterranean antiquity, amphorae. A fascination for relics of ancient times is often reflected in my work.

My 360 degree design is carved by hand in the traditional manner with wood carving tools. Longleaf pine needles were coiled in a random pattern on this very thick-walled, substantial gourd. Collecting and preparing the naturals and organically growing the gourd is an important part of what drives my work and makes it special. It starts with nature and continues through artful handcrafting, but the earth/human connection doesn't end there. This heirloom piece is destined to bring joy to just the right person who appreciates eco-friendly fine craft.

The binder is waxed nylon sinew and the interior is highly textural in flat black and natural. The outer shell has a very natural matte finish. Signed on the bottom. This is a good-sized, weighty piece: approx. 9 1/2" diameter, 4" high 30" circumference. Second place award winner, NC Gourd Festival

Coiled and twined basketry were one of the very first crafts practiced by humans, predating pottery. My coiled work is made using traditional coiled basketry techniques, sturdy and tightly bound by hand. Pine needles are added one by one, and the vessel is shaped as I go, stitch by stitch.

Such wonderful work...I invite you to visit her shop and check it out!

good day!

Today I sold two prints on Etsy and have someone interested in a clock! Soon as I find out shipping to Australia I'll know if its a go.
It is VERY rewarding to sell these laminated prints. Normally I turn them into mixed media assemblages, but time has gotten away from me on these and now that I am packing up and hitting the road, it feels like time to let some things go and make space for whatever is next. It's extra nice for me that blog friends/readers have purchased these pieces. It is very touching and gratifying when someone buys art, even more so when you know them (even if its online).

One more week and a few odd days, September will be over and I will finally start pushing everything into storage. I can't even imagine what is next.....
